Feeding Raw Empty

My friend feeds his dog with raw food. He said that it has many advantages like good muscle tone and beautiful hair. Is this true?

Feeding Raw Empty

I have given my dogs raw meat from time to time if I had some left over from our own cooking and sometimes they go wild over it and other times they turn up their noses. I have 2 Pekingese and 3 other types of dogs. I do consistently give them raw chicken wings or necks or whatever I can get cheap from the butcher or grocery to help clean their teeth and they always go for that. They also like raw carrots. They'll eat just about anything cooked and drink milk left over from our cereal. I keep Diamond Premium Adult kibble down all the time. Having medical background, I always worry about parasites from feeding raw, but HEY, they eat poop and dead bugs and who knows what outside so maybe my worry is unfounded. Marge G.

Feeding Raw Empty
PostSubject: Re: Feeding Raw   Feeding Raw EmptySat Mar 29, 2008 8:43 pm

I tried to feed raw, but my dogs did not care for just raw meat that I added supplements to, like calcium and a digestive enzyme. I printed up a whole book from the internet on raw feeding (I made a donation for the right to print it). The book said to let them eat as much as they wanted twice a day. And that they may eat less as time goes on because they are more satiated, as if imitating being a "wild" animal.

I now do a cooked version, MUTTLOAF. It has veggies and other goodies in it.

sunny Regarding nutrition...how many of you feed raw, how often if it is not the only way you feed and what do you feed? I tried just a few, and not any pekes, on raw this week, but will use it as a supplement, not their entire diet but will eventually give the pekes raw too. So, how about it? Anybody else? sunny
