Blowing their coat

What is the best brush for tangled fur? My dog's fur has lots of tangles.

Got the best brush for grooming today. Chris Christensen oblong 27mm fusion brush. Wish I'd had it all along. Eileen

It is not a boar bristle brush that you need. You need a pin brush.
Go to www.chrissystems.com and get the 35mm pin brush. The boys do blow coat but be very careful about pulling out the undercoat. Just use the pin brush gently and always back-brush.
And remember to never brush a dry coat. Use something to moisten it with. You can use distilled water in a spray bottle or you can get any one of the hundreds of coat spray's out there.
My favorite is Crown Royal. Either the already mixed spray (#3 for pekes) or the concentrated bodifier.

You can find good brushes at a beauty supply,and also large combs.Never use a slicker on a show coat and ver brush dry--us a leave in cond or distilled water.Distilled water for black coats,helps to keep coat from turning redish from being in the sun

Wow, you must be online now. What a coincidence. Good luck. I can ask KaShi's groomer where to get one if you have no luck. For a slicker to remove mats/knots the tiny slicker works best on their small areas. I hate the big slickers.

I have never used a bore bristle brush. These are like metal pins. Just should have no balls at the ned. I think you may have to find a dog show to find one. I can't use boar bristle on him or I. Too soft. YOu might try catalogs like petedge.

Be sure to use a detergent free shampoo. Those made by Tropiclean are very good, used and sold by Kashi's groomer. Use a brush with no balls at the end of the pins. Only use a slicker with knots. I suggest a very tiny slicker I got at Petco. It's about one inch or so by maybe two inches. I may be off a little in size, but it's tiny. Be sure to use a pin brush with no balls at the end of the pins. Sometimes you have to go to a dog show to get a really good brush. I did not see any like his breeder recommended except at shows. Eileen, don't use a pin brush that has the little heads on the ends of the pins. You can get them without the heads. They are spendier but they won't pull the hair out like the others do.

Keep Cosmo cool. When pekes are warm, they shed more.

Mist the ocast as you brush so that you do not break the hairs off.

Try giving Cosmo a salmon oil capsule each day. Mix it in his food. Essential fatty acids EFA's are good for pretty coats. Some groomers have other things they feed as well, but this is one.

I gave Cosmo a bath today. Got tons of fur in the brush. I'm afraid I'm going to ruin his show coat since I've never had to groom a peke with such a great coat. I had Milo when the kids were little and took him to the groomers for a puppy cut. I want to keep Cosmo in a show coat. I use a good quality shampoo, cowboy magic conditioner and show sheen to finish it off. Any suggestions to maintain a good coat welcome. Use a pin brush to brush him out. Eileen
